Mosby Leadership Program
The goal of the Mosby Leadership program is to create a cohort of empowered Mosby residents who have the skills to address problems and to advocate for themselves as well as others. The program’s primary method for achieving its goal is through a series of leadership development workshops that will be held in Mosby Court, a public housing community in Richmond, VA. The first 5-month workshop series is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2012 with an inaugural class of 10 Mosby court residents.
This project will examine the leadership skills and practices that are essential to effectively assisting the residents of public housing with taking action on the health disparities and other challenges they face. This project utilizes a community leadership development framework that comprises three components: 1) group empowerment, 2) skill building through dialogue and interactive learning, and 3) mentoring.
