HsinLing (Sonya) Hung, Ph.D., is the Director of Evaluation and Assessment at the Center on Health Disparities (CoHD) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavior Health and Policy at School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She received her Ph. D. in Teaching and Learning with emphasis on research and evaluation and a Master’s in Educational Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University (OSU).

Before joining CoHD, Dr. Hung was a faculty member in the Department of Educational Foundations and Research at University of North Dakota, a research associate at the Evaluation Services Center at University of Cincinnati, and a post-doctoral fellow at the Center for Research on Educational Evaluation and Development at National Taiwan Normal University. Prior to study at OSU, she held various middle and elementary schools’ teaching and administrative positions in Taiwan.

Dr. Hung is a member of American Evaluation Association (AEA) and has held various leadership positions of its Needs Assessment Topical Interest Group. She has served as an internal and external evaluator for federal, state, and nonprofit funded grants. She has led projects, collaborated with faculty, researchers, students, and stakeholders, and published in evaluation. Her research interests include needs assessment, program evaluation, training a competent workforce, and at-risk and special needs population.
