My name is Melissa Bills.  I was born in Lima, Peru but have been a native Virginian since 1989.  I attended Virginia Tech as a Pre-Vet student, eventually switching to education after tutoring at a local middle school and realizing how much I enjoyed teaching.  Since then, I have loved teaching middle school Life Science for 10 years.  I am a National Board Certified Teacher and have a true love for anything related to Biology.  I feel so lucky to be part of the HERO-T program, allowing me experience working in a lab with genuine scientists conducting research.  I hope to use this opportunity to continue sharing my love of Biology with my students in an authentic and exciting way!
