Eric Byers

Eric Byers is a fourth year Science teacher at Highland Springs High School. He has taught Earth and Space Sciences, Oceanography and AP Environmental Science. He also serves as the Earth Science team lead, Boy’s Tennis Coach and Envirothon Coach.  He attended Virginia Tech for his Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources Conservation and Virginia Commonwealth University for his Masters of Teaching. In addition to being named a First Year Teacher of the Year runner up, Eric received the Conservation Teacher of the Year from the Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District.  In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, canoeing and hiking. Eric’s favorite part of teaching, seeing students succeed and learn the value of hard work and being focused to achieve their goals.  He is looking forward to the HERO-T program as a way to learn and use research in the classroom to help students make valuable connections and gain interest pursuing careers science.
