Jessica White

My name is Jessica White. I currently teach life science at Benjamin Syms Middle School in Hampton City. Prior to moving to the tidewater region I taught in Richmond City Public Schools for 3 years as a science teacher and one full additional school year as a resident teacher through the Richmond Teacher Residency and Noyce Scholars Programs at VCU. In addition to teaching various levels and a variety of Biology courses I have also served as a PLC Facilitator, Mentor Teacher, Cheerleading Coach, and Part-time Home-based Instructor. Before realizing teaching was my passion, I worked full-time for three years in a clinical laboratory at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore as well as completed biomedical research at Morgan State University, where I received my B.S. in Biology.  I completed my Masters of Teaching in Biology Education at VCU. It was in my graduate courses where I learned it is important to recognize where my students have come from to get to where they are now. As a Science Educator I aim to build a community of reflective learners, critical thinkers, and innovators that are well prepared for any facet of science education.
