Research Interests: The research focus of my laboratory is to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying sensory neuronal plasticity in the physiologic and pathophysiologic states of the visceral organs. The current projects in this sensory neurobiology and visceral pain lab include 1) the roles of neurotrophins and neuropeptides in modulating sensory activity in bowel and bladder dysfunction; 2) the role of satellite glial cells in mediating sensory neuron cross-talk in DRG; and 3) the role of macrophages in modulating sensory activity.
